A big applause to the semiconductor players because we are going to pay more for our PCs. The price of PCs are likely to soar later this year.
Remember supply and demand curve. During the recession in previour years, supply was reduced by manufacturers and the demand is poor which eventually brought down the price per unit. Therefore it is led to shortage in YR10. Moreover, the transition from DDR2 to DDR3 RAM memory chips is the main reason behind that adds 23% more cost to the PCs. Memory is not alone, other components are expecting to rise from 2.3% while LCD panel price may be tagged 20% more.
It is a norm that increased price/cost is passed on to the consumers, but unlikely this much and end product keeps getting cheaper nowadays. It can be seen the recession may be ended for the manufacturers, but now it may be the time for the consumer to feel the pinch.
